Information

Gruenwald home in 2005

This home is located at 7th and Main St. and has been operated as a museum since 1975.

625 Main Street in 1915

As the city grew, many of the Main Street homes built early in Anderson's history became history themselves as the central business district expanded.

The Doxey Hotel in 1915

Located at 9th and Main Streets on the East side of the courthouse square. Note the interior shots with the "nazi" symbol on the floor. This symbol was a sign of good luck and was used frequently; including such buildings as the West Baden Hotel in French Lick

This site (the entire block) is currently home to the Key Bank building (formerly Citizen's)

1915

1930s

1320 Main street in 1915

As stated above, many of the Main Street homes gave way to business; as can be seen in this "Undertaker" business in 1915 and later a different funeral home.

This area today would be just north of the Village Pantry at 14th and Main Sts.
